PROGRAMMING A TITANIUM CARD with c***x files Important: The basic version of these instructions were on Satdudez. I have merely added my own experience and comments and take no credit for these instructions. - You need an Infinity USB + Phoenix programmer with two sockets on the back - one for a USB cable, one for COM port. - You must have both cables connected. - Best machine to program Titanium cards on is a slow machine with e.g. Windows 98. - Some modern Windows XP machines are simply too fast and it stops with a "Sending Trapcode" error. - Go into your System Control panel, click on hardware, then Device Manager, click on COM Ports and switch FIFO off for the port you will be using. - Find, (e.g. on Toecutters Den or Satdudez), download, and unzip Titanium Programmer versions 1.8.1 and 1.10.1 - Find the latest files and unzip them to a folder you can find easily. OK, off we go! >>>>- DO NOT PUT THE CARD INTO THE PROGRAMMER YET !!!<<<< - Start the Infinity USB program, select Phoenix mode (3.68 or closest), make sure it's set to "Phoenix" (not "Smartmouse"), click ok and the Infinity will be sent to the system tray (small black and white icon). - If it is a new card, you may need to do 2 upgrades of the card's operating system. - Start Titanium Programmer 1.8.1 and insert your card now. Make sure you insert it with the chip *downwards* - Configure the program for the correct port (under Settings). Always check this and do it for every version you use! Also make sure that the programmer is set to "other type" (or similar). - Click the green icon to connect the programmer to your card. It will either say "Unrecognised OS" or something like "OS 1.2 found". - Click on ERASE CARD (or ERASE) to erase the old system from the card. It will erase the operating system and put another one onto the card. - Don't be impatient. If you get "Sending Trap Code" and it seems to have stopped, click on the desktop icon on your computer screen and start up any large-ish program, such as Word, Excel, Paint Shop Pro, Internet Explorer - this sometimes slows the computer down long enough for it to catch up. Some other people just press CTRL ALT DEL **once** to bring the programmer back to life. - The faster your computer, the more likely you are to have the Sending Trapcode problem. - When it has finished it will tell you that it has upgraded the card's OS (operating system) to 1.xxx - If it fails, check that the card is in the right way up. Check the COM port setting. Try again (by clicking on ERASE again). I will presume that it was successful: (for errors, see further below) - Press the red icon to disconnect. Leave the card in the programmer. - Shut down (exit) Titanium Programmer 1.8 and start up Titanium Programmer 1.10.1 - Check under Settings that the COM port is set correctly ! - Click the green icon to connect. It will either say "Unrecognised OS" or something like "OS 1.2 found". - If it finds an OS it asks you whether you wish to upgrade to OS 1.xxx. Say No. - Click on TOOLS at the top and "Downgrade to 1.03". Most files these days work best with OS 1.3 - Confirm that you wish to downgrade. Try erasing the card then downgrading to 1.03 - When it's done that, click on the "Load EEP file" button and load the eeprom file, then do the same with the "Load HEX file" button. When both files are loaded, click "Burn It!". - When it's finished, click on the disconnect button, shut down the programm and remove the card BEFORE you shut down the Infinity program. Help with errors: E/A Fehler123 (I/O Error 123) ========== You may have forgotten to unzip the files using Winzip. The programmer cannot read zipped filed (i.e. those which end with .zip) Unzip them and put them in a place you can find them easily. I use a folder called "aaa-current-titanium" so it's right at the top of the C:\ tree. SENDING TRAPCODE takes too long.. ================= If you get "Sending Trap Code" and it seems to have stopped, click on the desktop icon on your computer screen and start up any large-ish program, such as Word, Excel, Paint Shop Pro, Internet Explorer - this sometimes slows the computer down long enough for it to catch up. Some other people just press CTRL ALT DEL **once** to bring the programmer back to life. The faster your computer, the more likely this error will occur. If you have an old laptop somewhere, use that for programming your card. Be patient, make yourself a cup of coffee, slow the computer down by surfing a bit and then clicking on the programmer's icon now and again to see whether it's come back to life. --IST KEIN INTEGERWERT (when loading a hex or eep file) ====================== Use a later Version of Titanium Progger, e.g. 1.10 or 1.10.2 - this error is due to a bug on earlier versions of Tit Progger (1.8 for example) WRITING EEPROM FAILED / WRITING FLASH FAILED ======================================== The card is possibly not in the programmer far enough, or it is in too far. Or it's in upside down. Click the red "disconnect" button, shut down Titanium Programmer, REMOVE THE CARD, shut down the Infinity Phoenix and start again. If, when you again click on the Infinity icon, it goes straight down to the system tray without showing you the main screen, you need to restart your computer. I repeat - do NOT insert the card until you have got the Infinity into the system tray and Titanium Programmer is up and running !!! Hope this helps !
