Chariot Race
|
The first of two chariot race. Realistic bigas representing the four traditional colours (red and blue representing the ruling classes, white and green representing the plebs) vied for laurels and honours.
The most daring charioteers were the blues and reds. Their chariots were often barely on two wheels as they hurtled around the corners, drifting and causing a cloud of dust and one of them once colliding with the straw bales. The blue biga won one race and the red biga the second race an hour later
